Through the decades, Gee Electronics has given strong support the primary music stores in Liverpool (such as Hessy’s Music and Rushworth & Draper) while several other retail shops were part of a chain that provided regular repair work on music and radio products.
Around 1976, Gee Electronics was approached by Rushworth’s Music House to design and build suitable equipment to compete with the popular makes such as Carlsbro and H H. This was done quite successfully, and resulted in the sale of hundreds of items including amplifiers, loudspeakers and associated equipment.
During the 1980’s Gee Electronics turned its attention to design and build work for schools, theatres and social clubs. In addition to this, five hospital radio stations were also conceived and fitted.
The supply of sound equipment continued with a move into complex systems such as 4 way audio and video for pubs and bars, which was a popular trend at that time.
The closure of Gee Electronics design and manufacturing operation came in the early 2000’s as demand for low-priced Chinese imports soared and British made, higher quality systems became less sought after. The company was re-structured in order to further develop its core market in the service sector.
Gee Electronics partnered with Dawson’s Music in its service department, as well developing relationships with the major music stores in the northwest of England , including Sounds Great, a family run boutique music store in Heald Green, Cheshire. There is also a major service pickup point in Sound control, Manchester.
While carrying out repair work for the music stores we still support touring bands such as Space, Gomez, The Blue Meanies and Clinic.
We were also proud to have been associated with Viola Beach.
